ARTICLE TYPES
Research articles
This section targets the presentation of original research. The manuscripts must include an Abstract (250 words maximum), Key words, an Introduction, the Materials and Methods section, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Tables and Figures. We do not provide space for supplementary information, rather include all relevant information in the main text as no size limitation is given. In case of conflicting reviews a third expert in the field will review the manuscript.
Communications
This section targets the presentation of important observations that can be covered in a comprehensive manner. The manuscripts should include an Abstract (250 words maximum), Key words, an Introduction (500 words maximum), Materials and Methods, a combined Result and Discussion section, Acknowledgments, References, Tables and Figures. The number of Tables and Figures should not exceed three in total, and the number of references not more than 20. The manuscript will be reviewed by two experts in the field. In case of conflicting reviews a third expert in the field will review the manuscript.
Mini reviews and Review articles
We accept both types of review formats. Reviews with up to 3000 words (including all sections, References and Figure legends) are considered as Mini Review. Full reviews are generally not limited in length. The manuscripts should include an Abstract with less than 250 words, Key words, the main body without presentation of original research results, Acknowledgments, References, Tables and Figures. The manuscript will be reviewed by two experts in the field. In case of conflicting reviews the editor will make the final decision.
Technical notes
In this section of the journal we publish short method papers with focus on techniques approach in the field of endocytobiology. Many techniques are frequently used and are standard and basic for our research. The manuscripts should contain an Abstract with less than 200 words, a short Introduction with less than 500 words, Key words, the Description of the Method, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, Figures and a detailed protocol for bench-side use, with emphasis on pitfalls in the procedure. The manuscript will be reviewed by two experts in the field. In case of conflicting reviews the editor will make the final decision.
Addendum
This section offers the possibility to publish further remarks on your own recent publication. The article can be in the style of a review or can contain additional original results complementing the recent publication. The manuscripts should include an Abstract (100 words maximum), Key words, an Introduction (300 words maximum), a combined Result and Discussion (500 words maximum), Acknowledgments, References (no more than 20), Tables and Figures. The manuscript should contain a maximum of 3 tables or figures in total. In case original research results are presented, the methods have to be explained as part of the figure legends. The manuscript will be reviewed by one expert in the field and the section’s editor.
Hypothesis papers
Current results can lead to new working hypothesis that can be formulated and substantiated by one figure. The article should contain an Abstract (100 words maximum), Key words, a
Main Text Body, Acknowledgments and References. The manuscript should not exceed 1000 words in total. The manuscript will be reviewed by two members of the editorial board.
News and Views
In this section the journal publishes conference conclusions or notes to research highlights published by others with relevance to the main focus of the journal. Here short articles with up to 1000 words including Key words, references and one Figure can be published. The manuscript will be reviewed by two members of the editorial board, but it will be marked as opinion of the author and not of the journal.
